Sophomore Elora Philbrick was awarded the Harriet Wilson Fiction Prize, given to a student who writes the best fiction story for Fiction Workshop.
“I feel really honored to win this award and it was really unexpected,” said Philbrick.
Philbrick’s piece was based on a gay relationship between two women.
“My professor wanted us to write stories on something you don’t read about every day, and I’m proud of my work,” said Philbrick.
Philbrick’s piece was selected among her peers to be the most exceptional.
The award was presented by division chair Alan Schulte.
